Young’s Wild Venison is a 5* FSA approved small family run business based in Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire. We butcher and supply wild deer meat direct to local residents and businesses.
All Our Venison comes from Deer Management programs that we run for Farmers, Forest Managers and Land Owners in the Hertfordshire area.
We are very proud of our quality product that comes from wild deer living healthy natural lives in Hertfordshire’s fields and forests. Our management plans help to keep a natural and healthy balance between deer and the environment.
Wild Venison is a healthy, ethical and sustainable source of meat which is low in cholesterol and contains less than 2% fat (less than skinned chicken!), and less saturated fats than other red meats.
Venison is a great meat that can be used pretty much in the same way as beef, just remember it has very little fat content, so don't dry it out! Most cuts benefit from either quick, pan cooking (med/rare for steaks) or 'slow n low' for bone in joints and diced meat. Our popular cuts include, Diced chunks for stews and pies, Shoulder joints or Haunch Roasts for a lovely family Sunday meal and of course our selection of prime steak cuts from succulent Rump to tender Fillets for a great steak night in!
